ad aware se personal

I just installed ad aware se personal and when I went to run it the first
time I recieved a message pop up stating that windows will be shut down in
1:00 minute, due to "DCOM server process launcher service terminated
unexpectedly" Can anyone help me I would like to be able to run the ad ware
protection without my computer shutting down.

It has nothing to do with Ad-Aware,it does have everything to do with you
not haveing a firewall and the Sasser virus!

thank you, i ran the stinger application and came up empty. I had noticed
that ad aware only stopped working correctly after i installed the service
pack 2. so i uninstalled sp2 and ad aware worked properly. I don't know if
the 2 things are related or not. thank you for the links they will prove
helpfull. i have also added a firewall.

Since "DCOM server process launcher"-service is installed with WinXP
SP2, and that service pack blocks for Blaster and Sasser attacks, then
it seems strange that it should be the case.

Try to do the Ad-Aware scan in safemode, as some malware tries to
blend in with Microsoft services, so when Ad-Aware tries to shutdown
the process containing the malware it also shuts down the Microsoft
services.
