ActiveX Help and Support Center SP2

Clicking any choices available in XP Pro SP2's Help and
Support Center results in a Microsoft Internet Explorer
pop-up warning with this message: "Your current security
settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page.
As a result, the page may not display correctly."

The problem remains after I've changed all ActiveX options
under all four Web content zones found by clicking Tools |
Internet Options | Security.

Surely Microsoft wants its XP SP2 users to have full
access to all pages and links within the Help and Support
Center. What changes can I make to eliminate the pop-up
warning? TIA

I would say you want the Intranet Zone, and in the ActiveX Controls section, Disable Automatic Prompting.

Didn't work. Any other ideas?

Assuming you are running XP Pro SP2, can you click Start |
Help and Support | Printing and faxing WITHOUT the warning
pop-up? TIA

Jack,

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0

Look in the right pane for a value called "1200". On my system, its set to 0, by default. Setting it to 1 causes a dialog asking, "Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run". The dialog title is Internet Explorer. Setting this value to 3, causes "script errors". If its not, 0, change it to 0 (zero). Close and re-open Help and Support.

The culprit, it turns out, was Qwik-Fix
(http://www.pivx.com/qwikfix.asp), which I've now
removed. No more pop-ups. Thanks for your help. You
pointed me in the right direction. Jack Mills
