ActiveX Controlls

"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page. As a result, the page may not
display correctley." Is the message I am getting each
time I try to perform Windows update. I try to do
everything I can think of, from changing security
settings, disabling firewalls to calling tech support. I
am holding on the phone for the 3rd level help
specialist. Does anyone had this problem? Do you know the
solutions? Thank you?

As the error message says 'Your security settings....." is the problem.

Start your Internet Options Control Panel (From IE select the Tools\Internet
Options menu)..

Select the Security tab...

With the Internet Zone selected, press the 'Custom Level' button which will
open a new dialog.
There you will see at the top settings for 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins'
You will probably have one of these settings set to disable. Change it to
Prompt or Enable. A setting of 'Prompt' is probably the best setting as it
gives you the choice of allowing or disallowing the downloading of unsigned
(an potentially malicious ActiveX controls)
