I have windows xp pro I am unable to get windows updates. It says that I
need to get active x is this right, if so what is best download site. Thanks

I tried this & it did not help I still can't download valadation tool
because of no active x can anyone assist in my nest step.

Try re-registering the following .dll files
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.

Thankyou so much I have tried all kinds of suggestion to no avail &
this worked!!! By re-registering these files it works like a charm
