I have a Dell computer with windows XP installed. Does active X controls or
active X software come with this operating system, or maybe someone can tell
me how to see if my computer has it? I am trying to play some on-line games
and also download smilys, but an error keeps telling me to download Active x
controls, but I have been to a lot of Download sites but I do not know what
to download! Can anyone help me please?

A properly coded web page would direct your browser to the source of the
ActiveX control. Depending on your security settings you would then
have an opportunity to authorize the download and accept the developer's
identification certificate.

Note that ActiveX controls isn't a suite of downloads that you download
in one session. The controls are individual modules that can be used by
certain programs, web page and certain other documents. Developers can
create their own custom ActiveX controls, thus the necessity of the
certificates mechanism to allow users to identify the source of the
download. In some cases the control may only be available on the web
server operated by owner of the page (or on line game) that requires the
control.
