Active X

I have Win XP Home and all of a sudden I'm having trouble with Active X
controls. I can't access any program/internet option where Active X controls
are involved. Instead I get security settings are preventing page from
displaying.

I've went to IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security and enabled (some with
PROMPT option) all Active X contraols and anything else I thought would be a
problem and still no luck solving the problem. I've set security to default
levels on all categories and that didn't help.

I've tried to install a new antivirus program (Norton Internet Security) and
can't get it installed because of this problem.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

Numerous ActiveX issues have been reported to have been caused by the October
Windows Updates. For more information, you might check out the Windows
Update newsgroup.

Hello , Try : Tools/Internet Options /General / Settings {button}/ View
Objects {button} / right click an item in "Downloaded Program Files" , select
"Remove" . Remove all items . You will be promted to download Active X when
needed as neccessary . Norton Internet Security ... Personal firewall : set
to medium . If clearing out "Downloaded Program Files" does not help . ..
Full uninstall of Norton , reinstall Norton . Disable the Microsoft firewall
and use your "Norton Internet Security" "Personal firewall" Run a full system
scan . You will need to select this yourself . There is a prescan during the
install , however the PC is not fully protected until full scan is complete .
