Active Directory restore in different Hardware

HI, Pls help me...I have active directory & system state backup and Exchange Information Store i tape drive. My server crashed , I re-builded the ML 570 Compaq Server by reinstalling the OS and configuring the ADS and Exchange Information. Can i restore the Active Directory and the Excahnge Information Store in a Desktop P III Compaq PC which as a different Configuration . If i do so by going through microsoft knowledge base article help , Iam not able to solve the Abstration Layer Issue. How ever i tryed to repair the OS it is giving the blue screen error, it is not even booting in a safe mode...The mails which are in the Information store are very important to me, I need to restore the ADS and the Information store in different Pc, to recoverthe mails in the information store, Pls help me who ever have restored this type of problem, pls help me......Thanks in Advance,

If you restored the system by overwriting with your tap restore, and getting
a HAL error, then the best bet in your case is to re-run Windows setup with
a repair option. This way it will save your current settings but it will
re-discover your hardware. If needed, be sure to have available any 3rd
party drivers available and hit F6 when prompted early on in the setup to
supply those drivers.

As for Exchange 2000:
If the above fails for you, you can always install AD/Exchange on a
different machine and restore the databases. Here's more info:

Ite trick is as Ace said in disk controller drivers. Sometimes after restore
it helps if you do upgrade
