Active Directory Backup & Restore

hello all,

we have taken backup of Active directory with
NTBACKUP.EXE program using "SYSTEM STATE" option. now the
active directory corrupted, then we can restore the active
directory from that back up. i wana ask............

if we reinstall the operating system (Windows 2000) due
to OS crash, can we restore active directory from that
backup?????? also tell me about some free software for
taking backup of active directory and restoring it.

Yes you can use NTBACKUP.exe to restore your sysstate backup if you
reinstall your OS, I not aware of any good free backup software to use, i
would recommed to keep using NTBACKUP, it works just fine. Otherwise i have
good experience with Veritas backup software. I would also recommed to burn
your sysstate backup to a cd. System state is a backup of your AD.
