Restore Active Directory using nt backup

Cindy

For disaster recovery I need to be able to restore active
directory to dis-similar hardware. I was told by someone
that I could use the nt backup and when I restored I would
be able to select active directory and not restore the
entire system state. Does anyone know if this is true? I
know that restoring system state would involve alot and
had rather re-create it from scratch, but would like to
restore active directory. Thanks

Restoring AD to a dissimilar hardware needs a lot of work because the backup
you are using to restorre has a HAL of the original server. You cant restore
that HAL on the server you are trying to restore AD. MS site has some pretty
good article and way arounds about this.
