Activation and system backup

Stuart Crow

Hello all
I am about to buy the following:
Windows XP Pro
Office 2003 Pro
Visio 2003 Pro
Visual Studio .Net 2003 Pro.
All of these will require activation I assume.
As a rule, I set up a 'clean basic' system on the PC, including
drivers and main apps, and backup the system partition to an external
HDD or CD in case of disc problems or to save a reinstallation of o/s
and apps if it becomes necessary.
Am I correct in assuming that after activating the above and backing
up the system, if I need to use this backup then the activation will
still be in force ?
TIA
Stuart

Not sure what you mean by backup - are you creating a drive image? You can't
really individually restore apps you backed up, I think...but a disk image
should work fine, tho (Ghost, etc)

Assuming that you've created an image of the drive and restored
it, yes, it should still be in force.

But worst case, even if you had to reactivate, it would be quick
and easy, and not a problem.

Yes, it will. I would (and do) use one of the specialist 'imaging'
programs, in my case Image for windows , from http://www.BootitNG.com
($27 shareware - 30 day full functional trial)
