activating winxp after bios update

I recently udated my bios, now win xp is forcing me to re-validate my
copy of win xp. The problem is that when calling microsoft, the
recording tells me that the validation key is invalid, and that the
problem could be fixed by reinstalling windows. Apparently I can't
reinstall an older version of win xp without loosing all my data.

Any ideas/suggestions? If I flash my bios to the previous version in
safe mode, will I still have to validate windows? I don't want to
reformat my hard drive!

Oh, nevermind.
I had to click on change cd key option even thought it told me not to
change it unless told to do so by a customer representative... I don't
understand, but at least everything's working now.

The retards seem to be out posting tonight,I imagine what
you really mean is you have a copy of windows from an oem
like compaq in which your copy of windows xp is tied to
the original bios and like a genius you went and applied
a newer bios therefore invalidating your oem preinstalled
activated copy of windows and are now screwed.

As long as the BIOS is from the proper source, updating a BIOS is not a
problem for Activation.

The retards are out indeed. Everything works fine now, and I am NOT
screwed. Thank you for your input, ignorant A-hole.
