Activating Windows help

I would appreciate some help for this please. At one time I did not have a
legit CD-KEY for XP unitil a couple of weeks ago when I get free microsoft
products from my school. So I have a legit copy of XP now with the cdkey, I
changed the cdkey for XP and it went in fine. I tried updated to SP1 and it
goes through fine but after rebooting it asks me to activate windows again, I
tried doing the online option but it tells me it is no longer availble and to
phone it in, i phone it in and go through all the prompts and it then tells
me that this ID is for a system with xp already installed and to just to try
the change cd key option which I did try and it tells me it is an incorrect
CD key. Can some one please help me on how to fix this, If you need anymore
info just ask

Hi

Where did you get your 'legit' copy of XP from? Perhaps you ought contact
them to see if they can help.

I got it from my college I go to because we have some contract with microsoft
to get free microsoft products, I already asked the person that I am suppose
to go to for support and he does not know. Does any one have suggestions?

That doesn't really apply for this situation. You see what we do is we go
onto this webpage that you enter in your username and password and you
reserve a copy of the CD that you want, for example XP, so after you reserve
it you get a CD key for the software for one time use and it is unique for
each user. When I went to try activating it on the phone with that automative
machine or whatever it said something on the lines of my ID shows this copy
of XP is for a computer that has XP already installed on it coming from a
store. The only thing I can really think of is going around the activation...
but I don't really want to
