activate windows

There is no cost associated with activating Windows XP.

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: ACTIVATION , and hit enter.
Click on the article titled: "Understanding activation and registration".

Most computers with Windows XP preinstalled at the factory do not
require Product Activation since their restore XP CD will not work on any
computer other than the one it came with.

Yes, you have to activate XP but, registration is optional.
No, there is no charge for activation.
