Feature Added: "Paste As HTML"

Bravo!
YahooYipeeYay!
WoofWoof!

hehe, knew I'd forgotten to mention something in the updates \.

I just sort of figured, well, I'd added the Paste as HTML feature in Mercury
Editor, so why not in ACF Notes aswell... ;o) (and besides, I knew how much
you liked it, hehe)

[Request Dept]

I'll look forward to developmnet of the Search and Replace dialog.
This is an area where text editors can vary...

For ACF Notes, on this, I do have an early request, something important
to me. In this current release, there is no Undo available after a
Replace or Replace All command.

Btw. I prefer when an editor's Undo takes care of everything that
had done in the Replace All operation. In one stroke. Not make me
hit undo 500 times for each replacement that happened.

You were keeping it secret so I could find it by surprise, like hiding
a chocolate easter egg.

I'm very happy about this. Tiny little editor that I can just leave
running, any time I've got a Moz browser open, then be able to save
web page selections just how I want. Thanks, Steven!

Thanks for the new version, Steve.

Hopefully, the next version will also have line numbers in the upper
tool bar area. Mercury Editor has them on the left margin, IMO
distracting when working in text, much better in upper toolbar.

Got tired of waiting in suspense and downloaded this 'lil gem. Agree -
line number capability would be ideal for notepad replacement to work on
html. (toolbar location)
Best,

Mike,
I'm a little confused about how your wanting the line numbers

When working on an extremely large .html file and comparing it to a
validation list it would be handy to click an option in the toolbar to
show line numbers to find the location of an error. Make the correction
then turn off "line numbers", save new file.

Feature does not work for me.
using something in clipboard Ctrl-V does paste it into document.
Using same trial F4 does nothing.

"Paste as HTML" will only work if there is actually HTML in the clipboard
(such as, text copied from a website), otherwise it will ignore it.

*Alt-F4 can exit without saving.*
How about keypresses to exit with save?

I'll sort it out for the next update ;o)

I don't know if it's explained anywhere. It's a rather uncommon command.
It is for when you are copying from your browser [*].

Normally editors will paste as straight text. (Or as that awful html-to-rtf
form, ugh). But the "paste as html" will give your the source html.

_______
[*] Both the MSIE and Mozilla families are willing to offer html format to
the clipboard. I don't know who else. Haven't tested for instance $$Opera.
But haved noticed that several more obscure independent browers I have do
not support offering html format to clipboard.

Just thought I'd give a progress report (it gives me a few seconds break
from programming, hehe).

So far, out of the requests, I've completed the following;

Add shortcut for "Save and Exit"
Add optional/toggleable Line numbers

I'm currently working on the following (just thinking of the best way to
implement it as it's proving to be quite the nightmare);

Add undo option for Replace and Replace All

The following is still noted for a future update

Convert to tabbed interface

I was planning on working on the update earlier today, but watched a few
films with one of my sisters, and to be honest, was quite tired after the
last one finished (What Women Want, with Mel Gibson (I know, I know.... but
it was rather funny)), so just went to bed instead (well, it was 7am!).

I am hoping to have the update available within the next hour or so
(assuming everything goes okay).

Okay, enough rambling from me, I have work to do....

Add undo option for Replace and Replace All

The hard part must be in my request that the Undo for a Replace All
undoes everything in that command. Instead of requiring 500 undo
presses. Majority of text editors fail to pull off that feature.
Yet I have seen exception around. Right now I just launched five
small editors.

Win32pad fail (undo,undo,undo,etc)
Kankowski fail "
Ted Notepad fail "
Edxor FAIL (NO undo available after replace)
BDV notepad FAIL "

Moved into a weightier group, then got a success hit:

Editpad Lite success

If I went into the big-sized programmer's editors, maybe the success
rate would be better. I'd have to see, tho might not be pertinent (?).
And success with Editpad Lite, it's much bigger than the first 100k
group (it's 13 times the size). This thing that I want, I've no idea
if there is correspondence with number of lines of code; but observing,
just in case.

Also about Editpad Lite, it is specifically the Search and Replace
dialog where they have really focussed special efforts. So it should
not be reprentative of what I can go and expect from other editors.

IOW, Steven, my request might not have been proper. That one part
of it. But as to some kind of undo, just one step, after replace,
that part should be more do-able, yes? And, maybe I can substitute
my Undo-a-Replace-All with a reload-from-disk command (which I tend
to use after changing my mind about a Replace All, when the editor
does not have the special type of undo feature).
