Accessing my Outlook via the Web???

Hello, I am fairly new to Outlook so please forgive me if what I am saying
doesn't make sense. But, I met someone who is able to access his Outlook
through the web. If he is at any computer with an internet connection, he is
able to open up the browser (I think he said it had to be Internet Explorer
for some reason) and log onto an Outlook website and have access to his
outlook on his home computer just as if he were actually on it. He has
access to all of his email files and I believe contacts and calendar as well.
Unfortunately I was unable to learn from him how he does it. Can anyone
help me? How is this possible? Is there a subscription service for this, or
extra software? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer, I really
appreciate it!

It's a feature of the mail server that he's using, in his case Microsoft Exchange. You can ask your mail provider if they have a webmail feature, too.

Another possibility is that he's connecting to his actual home PC using
Remote Desktop Web Connection (this is available only for WinXP Pro or
server OSes on the host computer).

Hi Erik,

This sounds like he is using Outlook for Web Access. If this is his work or
college e-mail I would bet money this is the case. OWA is the acronym for
this. Have your administrator install this and you should be good to go.
Should this be a home account you can come in via another product that I
don't know if I can list it here and by getting a dynamic IP address.

Best regards,

Aaron
