accessing domains and workgroups

Hi all!
I'v recently bought myself a laptop which i use at my workplace
(domain). I already have a home network (workgroup) and now id like to
give my lappie access to that too.

all machines run xp pro, a D-Link 624+ router/firewall is providing ips
, all network details are set to "auto"

I know that its not possible to access both a workgroup and a domain,
and that the only way is the labourious switching and rebooting
procedure. Since im NOT the admin at my work i have to go through him
every time i wish to change back to domain mode again. This is
obviously a bad solution, now id like to hear from you "pros" what you
think?

Id like a suggestion how to use my laptop in domain mode alongside with
my workgrup as clever as possible. Right now all i can use is ftp, but
im a newbie to networking.

cheers
Andreas

Hi -

If you create a local account on the laptop with the same
username and password as your account on the workgroup
you should be able to log on to the laptop locally and
access your workgroup resources.
