Accessing data on a Domain Server from XP home

Hi,

I've been told it is possible to use XP Home as a client onto a Windows 2003
Domain Server ( http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/wxphdoms.htm ).

However the instructions above are a little ambiguous. Could anyone clarify
what "Domain name" needs to be set as the workgroup name on the XP client and
where to find out what this "domain name" is?

Thanks

I'm sorry, but you were told wrong. XP Home cannot join a domain. An XP
Home computer can use domain resources if an identical
username/password are created for it on the server. See:

Paul,

You need to give the XP Home computer a workgroup name that's identical to the
domain name. That will allow the client, and the other domain members, to "see"
each other.

You'll have to setup local accounts on the servers that you want to access from
the client. Since the XP Home client can't actually join a domain, it can't use
domain accounts for access.
