Accessing D and E drives (CD/DVD)

After installing XP Pro (clean install). Everything
loaded well. The following day I started having problems
accessing my cd rom and dvd. Auto run is on but cd's will
not start. Have checked compatability list and my drives
are listed as compatable. Tried accessing from the run
option and I get a "D not accessable" message. Not sure
what to do from here?

Have you updated drivers? What does it say in Device Manager -Start,
Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager?

It says the device is working properly. Also, I cannot
connect to the internet to update driver because my
previous ISP software dose not work with XP. I received
an updated xp version on CD, well of course I cannot
access it.
