access rights

How do I get the full rights under administrator? Somehow the access rights
have been changed and I cannot use the add/remove hdwe because it says I
don't have full security rights to make changes.

I have rebooted several times and can log on as administrator O.K. When I
click the administrator tab each of the boxes show full control if that
helps.

Dave, didn't get much help at site. I'm not technical enough to figure it
out.

Exact message I receive when I click on the add/remove in control panel is :
"you do not have sufficent security privileges to install or uninstall
devices on this computer. Please contract your site administrator or log off
and log on again as administrator and try again. They do caution about going
directly into registry site and to use the control panel as much as possible.

This is a standalone computer, I always log on as administrator, no one else
has rights. Should I just try to do a reinstall or repair with the original
Win 2000 disk ?

That's what we needed to see.

Control Panel|Admin Tools|Local Security|Security Settings\Local
Policies\Users Rights Assignment "Load and unload device drivers"

Add the local administrators group.

Go to settings/users and check that Administrator has full rights
