Access Rights to Powerquest Drive Image 5.0 Files

I've used Powerquest Drive Image 5.0 to backup my system disk for years,
copying the image files to the other hard disks in the PC. I recently tried
to copy them to an external (USB 2 linked) hard disk and got an "access
denied" error message. I am running an account with full administrator
rights so was a bit surprised by this. I'm using XP Home in case that makes
any difference.

I can probably take ownership of the files, but wonder if they would
subsequently work if I needed to perform a Drive Image recovery - does
anyone have any experience to confirm or deny this potential problem?

Well - I would try taking ownership. I don't know why you would be denied -
especially if these are recently created (with the same account you are
using) files.. But yes - they are just files - who owns them should be of
no consequence in using them to restore.
