XP - Drive Image problem

Jim H

I have used PowerQuest DriveImage 5.0 to make a copy of c:
on a second physical drive, and then used Partition Magic
6.0 to change my 80GB c: to 10GB. As PM would not resize
the partition, I had to delete and start from scratch.

Everything went ok mostly, and all is well now, except
that I cannot access the Drive Image files. I have 2
images - one in 640mb chunks and the other in one 2.1GB
file. All partitions involved are NTFS.

When I try to access the files with Drive Image Explorer I
get error 1810 - the image could not be accessed. If I
try to copy the files with Windows Explorer I get "cannot
copy ivc_2: access is denied. Make sure the disk is not
full or write protected, and the file is not currently in
use." The destination has 5GB to spare, and I can copy
other files to it. I get the same result in safe-mode.

One last point - I used a Windows ME boot floppy to run
Drive Image 5.0. I suspect there may be a FAT32/NTFS
problem here???

Thanks

See if this article on the PowerQuest site helps:

Solution: Error 1810 reported when selecting an image in ImageExplorer

Try changing the ownership of the two DI files to your logon ID along with
the permissions to Everyone. NTFS adds security and sometimes simply
changing ownership to your logon ID allows the files to be accessed.
