Help
I have a new computer and can't get online. I've tried dial up and DSL and
can ping dns addresses at a snail pace but not webpages. Any ideas out
there? I already got rid of McAffee.

You are being quite foolish if you do not have an anti-virus program
operational.
"can't get online" is not specific enough. You need to specify whether or
not you have an account with an isp. You need to specify what happens when
you try to connect to the isp.
Furthermore what is the model and make of your computer? Networking can
make a marginal computer useless.
And so on and so forth.

It ended up being a winsock problem. I used a friends puter to downloaded
the fix and it worked immediately. Oh, and I also know enough to have AVG
protection, Spybot and Adaware.
