Access Problem

I use XP Professional on a Toshiba Portege laptop, which used to be
networked for work, but is no longer. I tried to change the computer name
and the domain of the laptop and must have inadvertently changed some
settings. I stepped away from the computer and returned to find it locked
as usual for security, but while it showed my old username after
ctrl/alt/del , will not accept my old password. Bottom line is I do not
know the Administrator password and cannot get into Windows to even look at
the settings.

Any ideas welcome?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,
I too had the same problem just a week ago. Oh what what a nightmare!
But I could boot in by Safe Mode and changed my password in user accounts.
How far into the boot sequence do you get?

No way in Safe Mode either. Have tried logging in as Admin, but it does not
recognize any password or if left blank as default.

Microsoft will not assist at all and Toshiba recommend a "dirty
installation", but not sure how to get this done.

Thanks any help as not getting far.

Regards,
David

I read something somewhere about your problem and now that I know that you
are still having a problem I will try very hard to find that piece of info.
Just Hang tight, give me till friday at the latest.
