access is denied

I am logged on as a user of a friend's computer running XP Pro. Trying to reconfigure my power scheme in the Power Options Properties, I get "Access is denied".

The administrators power scheme is different from my one, and moreover the one I would like to use, but how does the administrator set the power scheme for a user?. And if he can't, how can a user's power scheme be changed if the user is not permitted to change it?

Isn't there some way a user can temporarily 'borrow' admin rights if he knows the admin username/password while still logged on to his own settings?

type this in the run line

C:\WINDOWS\system32

look for this control panel object = powercfg.cpl
then right click this file and you will see run as..
there you can make a temporary log on and use any account
that has administrative rights.

good luck. (e-mail address removed)

Thanks Tom; how simple. I had tried built-in help every
which way, but like chicken & egg conundrum, you have to
know to type in 'run as' to get info on 'run as'...
