Old Ranger
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. I have six Windows xp Pro
machines networked. All except one is new within the last year. I a Compaq
6000 series as the server that runs the internet access using the Starband
Satellite using a NIC card connecting to the model 360 modem. That machine
has a second NIC card that is connected to a Netgear router. All connectons
are hardwired using Cat5 cables. I am using Winproxy to enable sharing of
the internet connection, per Starbands suggestion. I had at one time tried
to use Simple File Sharing through Windows XP Pro, but not able to access
the internet. My problem is that whenever I attempt to access the server
machine with any other machine it takes a very long time to open any drive.
I have just timed two different machines and one took Four Minutes Ten
Seconds and the other took 4:04 minutes. Showing all of the drives is very
very quick but opening the drive is not. I have set all permissions, shared
all drives but still get the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
