access denied to drive - help!!!

I am trying to access my documents/folders that I had put in a
partition/drive on a 120 GB Western Digital drive. I keep getting an error
message "G:\ is not accessible. Access is denied".

I am recovering from PC problems. I had to install a new motherboard and CPU
and install Windows 2000. After installing the new motherboard .. and Win
2000, I kept getting error message "ntoskrnl.exe is either corrupted or
missing". After many attempts to correct it which included repairing and
re-installing Windows many times. I finally ended up moving the disk drive
that it was trying to boot from to a different place and I don't get that
error message.

However now I cannot access my data which I had moved to my G drive.
HELP!!!!

Thanks,

Ted M.

Hi Ted.

Try taking ownership of that drive/folder while logged on as an administrator. Taking
ownership will allow you to change or give yourself ntfs permissions which is found
by right clicking a folder and selecting properties/security. When you take
ownership [security/advanced/ownership] you will want to check the box to replace
ownership on sub containers also. You may need to logoff and then back on after
changes in order to gain access. See the links below for more detailed info. ---

permissions.
