Access db wont open

We are 12 using an access db and one computer gave an error message stating
the db needed to be repaired. In the midst of performing a compact and
repair the computer froze and now we cannot re-open it. When we try it says:
The jet engine database stopped because you and another user are attempting
to change the same data at the same time. We got the error code 3197 but I
cant even get in to try and fix it,Any suggestions Please? (ps. access 2000)

No guarantee, but I suggest you exit, delete any ldb files with the same
name as the dbf file in question and then reboot the computer housing the
database. Try again.
