access a work group problem

I can not access the local workgroup MSHOME, from another computer or even
from the primary computer itself?

Keep getting a message that I do not have permission......


Any Ideals - I did re-install the NIC.

still same problem??

Hello John,

Two possible solutions:

In XP go to the computer you're trying to access, right-click on the
shared folder(s) and under the Security tab, check the Permissions.

In Windows XP make sure that the Workstation and Computer Browser
services are set at Automatic and Started (Start => Run => and type in
"services.msc" {without the quotes}).

Go to Start => Control Panel => Administrative Tools => Local Security
Policy.
Click "User Rights Assignment" in the left-hand pane.
Right-click 'Access this computer from the Network' at the top of the
right-hand pane.
Click on: Properties => Add User or Group => Advanced => Find now
Select and press OK to add at least the following:

Administrator
Guest
Everyone
NETWORK

Click OK twice to exit
