AC'97 Sound Card

I am getting strange noises coming from my speakers since
I updated my Sony Vaio from windows 98 to windows 2000
professional.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix the problem? Do
I need a new sound card? Is there an update that i can
download from somewhere?

Please help!

There is a windows updated driver for this sound device - go to windows
update and it'll be detected and offered to you for download.

The Sony site might have Win 2000 drivers. I have a newer Vaio that came
with Home XP and there are updated drivers for mine.

If you made upgrade, then most likely W2k picked up W98 sound driver. Try to
update it.
