About:Blank - Why?

Maybe it's just me, but I've always used about:blank as my home page,
because it's clean and loads instantly. What I can't figure out is why a
spyware program would set things to a blank home page. I thought the whole
purpose of hijacking is to get you to look at someone else's home page.

far more worse than seeing an ad for boobsicle's.
