I am trying to install winxp on a7v333, The bios version is 1018. When I try to install winxp
it stops very shortly and say acpi.sys is corrupted . I tried again and I got some error with fdisk.exe
winxp, 256 k-byte ram 2700, xp-2200 cpu

Anybody have any Ideas I could try
Thanks

Assuming the CDROM and hard drive are known good parts, try a different
stick of RAM. I had a nightmare of a time with a Windows 2000 server
that wouldn't take a service pack (many different files were corrupt or
would freeze during load). After days of struggling and many times
trying to reload the OS (corrupt files, etc) I removed all but one stick
of memory, then one at a time I switched out the sticks until it froze
again. Put all the "good" sticks back in and no problem.

I've also seen what you are seeing when the heatsink on the processor
wasn't seated properly and the system was overheating during load.
Removing the heatsink, reapplying a thin coat of heatsink paste and
re-seating the processor fixed that problem.

HTH,
Jeff
