Hi,
I have been having a helluva a time trying to install win-xp all day the
machine has been on. I been reading errors are caused by overheating, bad
cpu. acpi.sys is one error i kept getting but I must of changed something
bios to get rid of that.
I get to installing winxp and I get all kind get saying files are not being
copied correctly I know cd is not that bad but
I skipped a few and it seemed to be getting thru now when I boot it stops
and starts listing files. I try a new cd tommorrow.
So I don;t know what the hell is going on.
I have xp-2200 bios 1018 with 512 ddr-2700 ram in there. When I boot up it
says xp-2200 and it sees all the ram

Do I have set something for the ram speed?
What should this jumpers be set at
Jen set now at if you are looking from back of board up it is first 2
vid 1, vid 2, vid 3, vid 4 all are at 2-3
jumper 1 is now at 1-2
jumper 2 is now at 2-3

advanced bios says this and the machine has been on all day
cpu speed says 1350 mhz
freq mult 13.5x
cpu pci freq 100/33
cpu/memory auto
sys perf optimal
cpu vcore setting auto
cpu vcore 1.600v
all other enabled or auto os/2 onboard disabled
hardware monitor says
mb temp 27c/80.5f
cpu temp 34c/93f
fan speed 3183rpm
vcore voltage 1.64v
+3.3v voltage 3.32v
+5v voltage 5.26v
+12v voltage 12.78v

I'd Try 133/33 , and take performance off optimal

Sorry, I should've explained XP2200 will find 100 fsb a bit slow,
prefering 133 or 166 - 200 sometimes even.
Your memory is rated to operate at 166mhz[333ddr], run it like
if you wish or it should be ok at same speed as cpu fsb -133.

-Better luck,

What should this jumpers be set at
Jen set now at if you are looking from back of board up it is first 2

jumper 1 is now at 1-2
jumper 2 is now at 2-3

If it's not the cd it does sound like memory - I get the same thing when I
overclock the fsb too much sometimes

Not sure what you mean about jumper orientation - but vid1 - 4 set to 2-3
should give you bios control of vcore. But jumper 1 and 2 control the ram
voltage, the default setting is jp1 - the 2 pins furthest from cpu and jp2 -
the 2 pins nearest the cpu. This gives the default voltage for the board of
2.78 - 2.85v - which is overvolted. The opposite of this layout is
2.88-2.96v which is too high. Both furthest from the cpu is a normal non
overvaulted range and the 2 nearest the cpu is stupidly high (over 3v) and
will not do the ram any good.

Try setting the board up to its defaults so you know where everything is

Maybe set the cpu/ram ratio to 1:1.
Maybe set the memory timings by hand (not spd) and make all the timings as
big as they can go

Have heard something about the boards not liking some types of memory and
certain positions - how many sticks of ram do you have? if it is two sticks
try using slots 1 and 3 - or various options, or only one stick of ram and
try all combinations

Have you tested the ram to see if it works properly eg using something like
memtest86 - www.memtest86.com to see if there is a problem with the memory.
