I had my step-dad visiting this weekend, so as a belated father's day present we decided to take him to Llangollen to ride the steam train to Carrog. All photos taken with my Nikon D3200 with the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens

Here's the steam train (there were two different services that day - steam and heritage rail car):

Trying to figure out how to pronounce the station names...

What would a trip to Wales be without photos of sheep?!

Had a nice lunch at The Grouse Inn:

On our return trip we saw the steam train coming the other way:

Outside the station there was a cafe made from an old sleeper carriage...

And the award for random sight of the day goes to... (in a taxidermy shop)

@Urmas I'm beginning to suspect you work for the Finnish tourist board!

Thing is it is about an hour from where live but I have never been

It's a lovely place, I'd definitely recommend it! The train tickets are fairly pricey but it was a great day out. They also do themed events, I saw signs up for a real ale trip in July

Super photos @Becky. I love steam engines, they seem to have much more "personality" than diesels, and coupled with such picturesque scenery, what could be nicer. :D

Thanks TC! I know what you mean, there's something quite nice about chuff-chuffing along in the sunshine :)

Well I have to admit FInland does look lovely :) What is that castle at the end of the video?
