A specific webpage has began loading slowly

The university I attend has recently updated their homepage. I have a year
old Dell laptop and was running XP (SP2) with IE for my browser. The day the
new webpage was posted, the page began loading incredibly slow on my laptop
only. The webpage background begins loading very slowly from the top of the
screen to the bottom, then the images load. Also, as I move my cursor across
links on the page, it is very slow to respond and become active so I can
click. I installed Mozilla Firefox browser and it loads the webpage fast but
some of the text is hidden on some of the links.Other computers in the lab
load the same page with no problem and they also run XP (SP2) with IE. My
home computer loads the page with no problem. It seems that it is obviously
something with my laptop and IE. Any thoughts? Thanks.
