a single letter in the title bar

I just upgraded from WIN 98 to WIN XP Pro. In the
process, my title bar in IE 6 now just displayes a single
letter instead of the title of the web page. I was
running eFax and this was an issues with IE 5 and NT 4.0
(KBA 225123) although it was not a problem with IE 6 and
WIN 98. However, I did what the KBA said and it did not
fix my problem. I have since uninstalled eFax, but still
have problem. Can't find an answer anywhere on the web -
help. It has to be problem in the registry, but where?

Fairly recently someone here reported that the problem stemmed from
his use of Popup Manager - that is, he uninstalled it, and the
single-letter display was corrected. This caught my eye because I've
been using Popup Manager for a couple of months and like it very much,
no side effects. He also said that there is a Microsoft support
bulletin on the subject, and that although several utilities were
mentioned in a list, this was not included.
