Odd characters in title bar

Hello,

my IE works fine, but since some time the title bar shows only odd
characters. It looks like the characters (including the "Internet Explorer"
string) would be interpreted as being in a different encoding than they are
-- a number of characters show up as not present in the font (squares in
the title bar, question marks in the task bar button), the others look like
some kind of Asian letters.

All the rest seems to work fine -- including the page titles that show up
in print preview and printed pages.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong here?

Thanks,
Gerhard

You can reset or customize title bar branding:
http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#debrand

Thanks, Robear. Unluckily that didn't help -- the registry entries listed
in that FAQ were all ok.

It's not only the "Microsoft Internet Explorer" part (which I guess would
be what can be "branded") that appears in strange characters, it's the page
title also. Which I guess means that somewhere a wrong encoding gets picked
up -- but only on the way to displaying the title bar. In printouts the
page titles look normal.

Windows version?

Does the behaviour persist in another User Profile?
