Disable Auto restart (Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced tab -> Settings under Startup and Recovery -> uncheck Automatically restart). Now watch for errors.

I’m having a queer problem, my PC (IBM Netvista M50) is shutting down every
few minutes with no special reason. I’m running XP with all the latest
service packs and updates. After I restart the PC, there is no event in the
event logs and no hardware error.
Make sure that all of your cooling fans are working properly, that
the PC's interior is free of dust, and that all of the PC's case's
airways are free of obstruction. You may well be overheating; if it
goes on too long, permanent damage to the CPU and of chips may occur.
