I AM GOING TO RE INSTALL WIN XP PRO ASAP, JUST WANTING TO KNOW THE BEST
METHOD OF CLEANING ALL DATA BEFOREHAND SO THAT I HAVE NO OLD STUFF COMING
BACK ON THE NEW INSTALLATION. HAVE JUST BOUGHT AN EXT HD AND HAVE SENT PHOTOS
AND SOME DOCS I WISH TO KEEP TO THAT.
ANY ADVISE WELCOME AS I WOULD APPRECIATE A CLEAN HD AS POSSIBLE

THANK YOU
DON

And don't forget to check/clean your keyboard before the fresh install. It seems that your CapsLock key is stuck or jammed; that
can cause problems.

Ouch! Please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally, in
mixed case.

When you reinstall Windows, the first step is formatting the drive. That
takes everything off the drive, so there is no need to do any "CLEANING ALL
DATA BEFOREHAND."

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:

or here http://windowsxp.mvps.org/XPClean.htm

or here http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/clean_install.htm

Hope this helps.

Are you talking to me, or are you quoting something I didn't say?

Your entire post was in capital letters. Either you don't know grammar, or your Caps Lock key really is stuck. I gave you the
benefit of the doubt, but obviously it was the former.

Actually, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that his keyboard actually was jammed, rather than assuming he's just careless.
I guess I was wrong. I don't think he was being rude, just lazy (or young).

Proper capitalization isn't netiquette, it's grammar, in any medium. Why is it that people are more sloppy with it on computers,
because it's easier? because it's "more work" to press Shift? :|
