A duplicate name exists on the network?

After I change my computer name and workgroup name ,and start again, it give
me the same error message again: A duplicate name exists on the network?

Please help me how to get rid of this problem?

If there is no other machine with that name then you need to go into WINS
and DNS and cleanup any "stale" entries with that name. Then from a
commandline on the machine you are dealing with run "ipconfig /flushdns".
Then reboot the machine and it will re-register itself in DNS and WINS with
"fresh" entries. If it does not register itself right click on the Network
Connection and choose "Repair".

You may also want to clear the netbios cache on the local machine:
from a command prompt type nbtstat -RR and press enter.

Also note that any entries in WINS and DNS take some time to clear, so
if you change the name back to a pre-existing one and immediately try
to join the Domain / Workgroup you may get the message you received.
You may have to wait up to 15 minutes for the rest of the network to
catch up!!
