8500DV Does Not Record in ANY Format (AVI/MPG/VCR)

Using MMC 8.5 including new DVD software (Purchased from ATI) and latest drivers...

Everything else works fine I can watch tv play mpeg's / avi's ect...

Whenever I click on one touch recording the recording "box" comes up and the the counter starts counting up. When I stop recording and goto view the file I just recorded to in explorer there is either no file or the file is about 2 kb in size even if recording 15 mins or more.

Any ideas appreciated.
