Hi,

I have a strange problem when I convert an avi file capture by an ATI AIW
8500DV to an MPG-2 file with TMPGEnc. The problem is not from TMPGe because
I could convert others AVI files without problem.

Strangely enough, when I use the Cinema Craft encoder, everything is fine.

I capture with the AVI Recording set (NTSC, 720x480, UYVY codec, 29,97 frame
rate, PCM native).

I have driver: 6.14.10.6343 for the card.

Any help or suggestion will be appreciate.

Thanks.

Very often the audio on an avi is stored as variable bit rate, tmpegenc and
a host of others have problems with this (audio goes out of sync with
video).

The easiest way to convert an avi of this nature is to use virtual dub to
extract the audio part of the avi to a standard wav file, you can then add
the video and audio seperate to tmpegenc

Keep in mind that you need to use the version of Virtual Dub that handles MPEG-2
(this version also resolves AC-3 audio problems).

Good luck,
