64 bit ?

I ordered the 64 bit DVD from M/S for the Home Premium 32 bit version,
formatted the drive and installed the 64 bit version, all went well.
Since this is my 1st experience with any 64 bit programs, I went looking
through Windows Explorer to see what had been installed. I was surprised to
see a Program Files, as well as a Program Files (x86) folder, a System 32,
as well as SysWOW64 folder, and Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer 64
bit.

Is it normal to have the 32 and 64 bit folders?

Yes. 32-bit apps running on Vista 64-bit have to "thunk" through the WoW64
(Windows on Windows")
subsystem, which is how 32-bit Windows apps run on Vista 64-bit.

Hi,

Yes, this is normal. 32-bit programs will install to the Program Files (x86)
folder. The core system files (the 64-bit ones) are in the system32 folder
(I know, it seems backwards) and the ones used to emulate a 32-bi
environment are in the syswow64 folder. 64-bit Vista includes both the 32
and 64-bit version of Internet Explorer, as you may find that some plug-ins
will not run in the 64-bit version.
