4GB Defender error log will not defragment

This is a possible improvement to future releases of Defender...

Defragmentation Report shows "Files that did not defragment: Fragments =
6,048, File Size = 4.00 GB, File Name = \Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\errors.log"

I don't believe Windows Defender has anything to do with that folder and/or
file.
Are you sure that's not left over from Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta program?
If you are running Windows Defender, that folder and file is just taking up
space.

I am happy with Defender, which I understand to be "Beta 2" of AntiSpyware. I
don't want to screw it up. I need to be sure you are right that it's OK to
delete this directory. Can someone tell me where Defender now keeps its logs?

It's Beta2 in name only... There is no relationship to the code that was
MSAS Beta1 to the code that now is Windows Defender Beta2 which was
completely re-written from scratch by Ms. Take a look at the last write
date on that error log file... it shouldn't be after July 31, when MSAS
ceased to function.

Take a look at your system events log. You can open the event log by:
Start, Run eventvwr.msc <enter>
Click on System, click on View, Filter, click on Event Source,
choose WinDefend, then OK

Yes--it is absolutely fine to delete that file--indeed, if you have nothing
that was quarantined in Beta1 that you wish to recover, it is fine to delete
all files under that folder and the folder itself.

Windows Defender uses the System and Program event logs, and keeps some
temporary logs in the %temp% folder under each user account.

(in other words \documents and settings\username\local settings\temp)

The main working folder for Windows Defender is under:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
Defender

There is a Support sub-folder that contains a log file.
