$360 for 1 Vista Ultimate and 2 Vista Home Premium

I think this is a good deal, $259 for Vista Ultimate upgrade, and 60% off on
2 other Vista Home Premium, which totaled about $360. and Of course upgrade
and full version are the same. You can always clean install with the
upgrade version. So there are reason for me to buy full version in my case.

Yes, that is one hell of a deal. Much better than unlimited Linux use for
zero.

Linux is pain to install, I'll gladly pay for Vista at least I can make it
work on my computer.

I would disagree with that, Ron. Other than Solaris server, I've found
Linux's various iterations to not only install easier, but generally
quicker.

In my experience, I've found it easier to install. Particularly on
equipment that you've had for any time - I tend to loose all the driver
discs which MS tends to require.

Solaris is not Linux. Solaris is Unix.

All I know is that I installed Ubuntu 6.10 on my old 1.4 GHz, 512 MB
PC for my 7 year old niece to use. Installed quickly and works
perfectly. ZERO problems.

Cost to upgrade hardware $ 0.00
Cost of Ubuntu 6.10 $ 0.10 (electricity used in download)
Cost of CD $ 0.10
Cost to upgrade software $ 0.00

Total $ 0.20

Now factor in the time taken to get it all as you want to at $20/hr.

I installed Ubuntu in less than two hours, including over 200 updates.
With Windows, it took five days to get it right.

Oops.

Also, Linux is getting so popular that Dell is going to sell computers
with Linux preinstalled.

Oops again.

Let's see, in this thread you have bragged about getting both bull and
dog shite free. How nice. What do you do with it?

Go find a Linux group and leave us alone. If you have nothing to say other
than "well Linux did it better", go away. If you want to be productive and
try to assist people as opposed to just being and ass then your more than
welcome to stay.

Actually, it does. I've done an ftp install of SuSE Linux on several
occasions. Right now, we have wireless internet and a wireless lan
which I use quite nicely on my Ubuntu laptop.

I would think that if Dell did that, they would lose favor with
Microsoft and that would mean losing all the discounts they get from
MS for installing MS OEM versions.
