Can I install the same copy of Windows XP PRO on another
computer in my house that also belongs to me ??

Greetings --

Does your local department of motor vehicles allow you to drive
two cars on a single set of license plates? So why would you get the
idea that software manufacturers would sell their product licenses any
differently? In real life, it doesn't matter whether the product
being purchased is a physical item, a service, or a software license -
if all you buy is one, one is all you get.

As it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating systems,
it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and copyright
laws, if not technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each
computer on which it is installed. The only way in which WinXP
licensing differs from that of earlier versions of Windows is that
Microsoft has finally added a copy protection and anti-theft
mechanism, Product Activation, to prevent (or at least make more
difficult) the sort of multiple installations you're asking about.

One copy of XP per PC. Legally you would have to buy a
second license.

Uh huh, and what if you rent??

Some answers are quite amusing.

You answer a question with a question, wow took some serious thinking
there...

Fred,

No, you can´t. You can only install XP on one computer at a time. Companies
may have a site license, with wich they can install XP on more computers at
a time, but that is not ment for private use.
When you install your copy on your second computer, you can only use it for
30 days. Then you´ll have to activate, which you can´t because it´s already
activated on your first computer. You should buy an extra licence.

Best regards,

Ben

Don;
If you rent, then the Microsoft Police come to your house and confiscate all
of your computer hardware and software. And for good measure they will also
take the mattress you have pulled the tags off. They will also confiscate all
the vehicles that you are driving with your one Arkansas license plate. :-@
