2000 or 2000pro?

I use a standalone m/c with no network (apart from a broadband internet connection).
Is there any point in my using Windows 2000 pro rather than Windows 2000?

There is Windows 2000 Pro, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Windows 2000 Data Center.

Just guessing, you are getting confused, Windows 2000 and Windows 2000 Pro are the same Operating system.
