2 xp installs show up at boot?

recently my computer has been showing an option between 2 windows xp installs
when it boots up. the one on top doenst work, and the bottom one is my real
installation. normally i wouldnt care, but xp decided that it was going to
pick the non-working one to load automatically after 30 seconds. is there any
way to get rid of the dead xp option?

Go to Start --> Run and type "msconfig" (no quotes). Go to the BOOT.INI tab
and click the Check all boot paths button -- should remove any boot data for
dead installations.
