2 Questions (**)

Hello,

I have two problems.

First, I have difficulty in sending mails with attachments. The receiving side often does not get the attachments or get them in an unrecognizable format. I have spoken to my ISP and POP mail provider but they could not offer any solutions. I strongly think that I the problem is related to M.S. Outlook. Because when i send the mails by logging into my account on the internet (i.e. not using Outlook) there is no problem. Can anyone offer any solution to that???

Secondly, i have a POP mail provider that gave me 5 different mail addresses. However, i can only send mails (via outlook) using one e-mail adress. I want to choose which e-mail address i use when sending mails.(except for changing my email address from accunt properties everytime). They said i should set up alternate alias addresses. I don't know how to do it. Can someone please help me?

Thank You

Ugur

For the first question: What format are you using for the messages in
question (HTML, Plain Text, Rich Text) and/or are you using Word as your
e-mail editor? Do you know if the recipients who are not getting the
attachments properly are using Outlook or another e-mail program?

For the second question: What version of Outlook are you using? You should
be able to add extra mail accounts fairly easily...

Thanks for answering my question.

We are using M.S. Outlook 2000 SR-1.

As for the attachment problem. The receiving persons (the ones not getting
the attachments) also use M.S. Outlook.(dont know the version).

My option settings are rich text and i dont use word as e-mail editor.

As for my second problem, i should note that i have one (i already set it
up) pop e mail account which has 5 e mail addresses. (i.e. i have yahoo
mail, but i can send from (e-mail address removed) and (e-mail address removed) via webmail by
logging into my yahoo account, but i can not do it from M.S. outlook. I
asked the question to yahoo experts, they said i should set up aliases. I
dont know how to do it. Appreciate it if you could help me out.

Thank you for your further help.

The attachment issue is a strange one since all users are using Outlook.
Have you tried using Plain Text or HTML for the messages just to see if that
makes a difference?

If you run Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode (check the second line of
Help | About Microsoft Outlook if you're not sure about this), you should be
able to add additional POP3/SMTP e-mail accounts via Tools | Accounts. I am
not sure how this works with Yahoo, since they are typically HTTP accounts
(web based) and not POP3/SMTP...but if you are paying them for the POP type
accounts, you should be able to do it this way. Note that if you run
Outlook 2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode, it doesn't work the same way, and
you'd have no way to easily switch between your POP3 accounts even if you
did add them to your profile.

Thanks for your reply.

I have two more questions about the attachments
I sometimes open the attachments in the mail to check them. Does this
corrupt the files (cause them to be received as a different format by the
recepients?)
When i add the attachments, sometimes they appear near my text message,
sometimes they appear on the bottom of the text message, in a seperate pane.
Why, does this make a difference?

I have solved my second problem with e mail accounts. Thank you.

I don't think you would corrupt the attachments by opening them within the
message, but I could be wrong...as for the placement of the attachment icon,
if you use Rich Text for the message the icon will appear in the message
body, whereas Plain Text or HTML messages will put the attachment icon in
its own pane, either at the bottom or in a field at the top (depending on
your Outlook version).

Ugur,

How did you solve your second problem? I have been wanting to do that
for years!

Hi Paul

I basically added new e mail accounts with same settings. (In my case, i
have ONE yahoo account with 5 email addresses, so i set up 5 accounts. I
named them yahoo1 yahoo2...).
The only difference in the settings is the e mail address section. As the
wizard asked my e mail address i put it as (e-mail address removed) for the first
one (e-mail address removed) for the second one...
Since i have only one inbox on the web, i unticked "include this account
when receiving mail" on the general tab except one account.

So now, when i want to use (e-mail address removed) to send mails i use related
account. (for (e-mail address removed) (e-mail address removed) also related accounts)

I hope you can solve your problem with that. I am using outlook 2000, do if
your version is different watch out for minor differences.

It is a great convenience.

Bye
