hi

i have a problem with my system, i was previously using
win98se but i decided to upgrade to win2k so i just load
in the win2k disc and installed win2k from there...well
eventually i got what i wanted, win2k os but i found out
something when i switch on the system. Everytime the
system will prompt me for this 2 options:
1. Microsoft Windows 2000, or
2. Microsoft Windows

well i had installed win2k, obviously i chose option 1,
but what is option 2? is it win98? why do i have 2 OS?
how can i fully uninstalled win98se on my system? i only
want to use win2k NOT win98.Help.

Thank You

When you installed Win2K, you should have deleted all
existing partitions and not converted the files.
Otherwise, the install will automatically default to a
dual-boot option, giving you the choice of which operating
system you installed. if you installed over 98, then you
more than likely won't be able to load 98, but the dual-
boot option is dumb and doesn't know that so it gives you
the option anyway. The only way to get around it is to
reinstall windows 2000 and make sure you delete all
partitions and create a new partition.

Easier solution than re-installing:

Control Panel, System, Advanced, Start-up Recovery.
Set default OS to W2000 and set time displayed to 0.
The "Dual boot" will still be there, but you won't be
given the option. You must have saved the boot files when
you upgraded.
