hi

i have a problem with my system, i was previously using
win98se but i decided to upgrade to win2k so i just load
in the win2k disc and installed win2k from there...well
eventually i got what i wanted, win2k os but i found out
something when i switch on the system. Everytime the
system will prompt me for this 2 options:
1. Microsoft Windows 2000, or
2. Microsoft Windows

well i had installed win2k, obviously i chose option 1,
but what is option 2? is it win98? why do i have 2 OS?
how can i fully uninstalled win98se on my system? i only
want to use win2k NOT win98.Help.

Thank You

You have inadvertently done a dual boot. There is no way
to delete W98SE withou harming W2K, unless you start all
over, a clean install:

Boot from W2K CD (you may need to set the boot sequence to
CD before HD or A:). When prompted, delete and then
create and format the HD partition. When done reboot (to
avoid funny drive letter assignments) and follow the
prompt.

Hope this info is useful.

When you upgraded, you probably selected the default installation folder of
"winnt" instead of installing in the existing "windows" folder. The system
thinks there are multiple OSes installed. I doubt that you really have a dual
boot, but to verify it, try selecting the alternate choice when starting.

Whether or not Win98 responds, you can bypass the double listing (which is
harmless). You can control this via the System Properties.

Control Panel > System > Advanced [tab] > Startup and Recovery [button]. In the
System Startup section, select the configuration that boots properly from the
drop down list.

Uncheck "Display list of operating systems.....". Click on OK till you're out.

Thank You for your advice and feedback...now what i want
is to do a clean install of W2K. Its ok even if it needs
to format my HDD. All i want is to delete everything and
have a clean and new W2K as my OS.

You mentioned about booting from W2K cd (need to set the
boot sequence to CD bedfore HD or A:) ? How do i go about
setting it?

Thank You very much
